When it is time for a replacement
The screens are the parts that come up most often — they clog with residue and slow the airflow. The silicone insert hardens over time; if the mouthpiece then no longer sits firmly or draws false air, the insert is due. Ceramic chamber and full mouthpiece are durable but sensitive to falls — good to have as spares at home rather than waiting for a delivery after a breakage.
Cleaning and care
Stainless steel and glass tolerate a bath in isopropyl alcohol: leave the parts to soak until the residue dissolves, then rinse with clean water and let them dry completely before refitting them. Silicone parts are better cleaned with warm water and a little washing-up liquid — prolonged alcohol baths make silicone brittle and leaky over time.
